Research Topic: Medical Image Understanding through Vision-Language Models

Supervisors: Duygu Sarikaya, Nishant Ravikumar, Marc de Kamps, Kieran Zucker

About George: George holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Leeds, where his final project was centred on tumour segmentation in MRI scans with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). Now enrolled in the CDT program, he is interested in contributing further to the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and healthcare.

Project Description: Visual Question Answering (VQA) combines computer vision and natural language processing to create systems that answer questions about images. VQA holds the potential to aid in medical imaging and surgical video by providing accurate feedback on diagnostic queries and generating reports. This project aims to explore methods to enhance the performance and reliability of VQA systems in these applications.
